Marathon (42.195 km) – Start Timings & Cut-Offs Policy

Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026 | Sunday, 18 January 2026

The Marathon will start at 5:00 a.m. from CSMT, Mumbai, in five staggered Start Waves (A–E). The Start Line will close at 5:30 a.m., after which no runner will be permitted to start.

Overall Race Cut-Off

The total cut-off time for the Amateur Marathon is 7 hours, calculated from the Start Line cut-off of 5:30 a.m.

This corresponds to a maximum allowable pace of ~ 10 min/km, with the slowest permitted finisher expected by 12:30 p.m.

Mandatory Enroute Cut-Offs

To ensure runner safety and enable the phased reopening of city roads, the following cut-offs will be strictly enforced:

Cut-off timings are calculated based on the last runner crossing the Start Line at 5:30 a.m. at the maximum permissible pace.

Important Advisory for Marathon Participants

  • Entry to Azad Maidan closes at 5:00 a.m.
  • Entry to the Start Holding Area closes at 5:20 a.m.
  • Runners missing any cut-off will not be allowed to continue on the main carriageway once traffic restoration begins.

If a Cut-Off Is Missed

Runners may:

  • Continue on the pavement/footpath at their own risk, or
  • Board the Sweeper Bus operating as per the official cut-off protocol.

All participants are strongly advised to pace their race responsibly and adhere strictly to the cut-off timings for their own safety and smooth race operations.
