GREEN INITIATIVES AT TATA MUMBAI MARATHON 2025

Celebrating 20 Years of Sustainability

The Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025 marks its 20th anniversary with a continued commitment to social inclusion and eco-consciousness. Since 2004, the marathon has not only fostered the growth of India's sporting culture but has also made a lasting positive impact on the city and the country.

Our Sustainability Vision

At Tata Mumbai Marathon, green initiatives are a key aspect of our sustainability vision. We've adopted the waste hierarchy principles—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Compost—to manage waste effectively since 2016, ensuring compliance with local laws.

Award-Winning Efforts

In 2022, PROCAM received the 'Best Solid Waste Management Program in a Public-Private Partnership Model' award from Business World at the Recycling for Greener Tomorrow Awards.

Collaborations for a Greener Future

Since 2019, we've partnered with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and organizations like Hasiru Dala Innovations and Stree Mukti Sanghatana to manage waste efficiently. These partnerships focus on fostering entrepreneurship and creating better livelihoods for waste pickers.

  • Zero Waste to Landfill: Ensuring all event waste is either recycled or composted.
  • Public Transport & Carpooling: Encouraging the use of public transport and carpooling, with special arrangements by Western and Central Railways.
  • Medical Waste Disposal: Proper disposal by Asian Heart Institute.
  • Event Cleanup: Thorough post-event cleanup by MCGM.
  • Food Redistribution: Distributing leftover edible food to the needy via Roti Bank.
  • Upcycling Branding Materials: Converting branding flex into mats or roofing sheets for the homeless.
  • Cycling to the Venue: Providing bicycle stands for participants.

Encouraging Sustainable Practices

  • Bring Your Own Bottle (BYOB): Encouraging participants to bring or refill their own bottles to reduce plastic waste.
  • Plastic Bottle Recycling: Recycling all plastic bottles used at the event with MCGM's help.
  • Water Conservation: Collecting and using leftover water for plant irrigation.

By integrating these initiatives, the Tata Mumbai Marathon aims to set a benchmark for green, sustainable events, supported by our sponsors, partners, vendors, and participants. Join us in making a positive impact on the environment and celebrating two decades of running for a cause.
