A native of the quaint village of Jirat (Balagarh) in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, has cultivated his passion for running amid the scenic landscapes of Tribeni, where he is currently employed. With a distinguished background as a former member of the Indian Air Force, serving in fighter squadrons such as Mirage 2000 and Jaguar aircraft, he notably played a role in the 'Kargil War' of 1999.

Elevating his commitment to athleticism, Bapai has become an accomplished Ultra Marathoner, participating in numerous prestigious national and international races both within and outside our borders. Among his remarkable achievements are:

• Comrades Ultra Marathon 90Km - South Africa (June 2023): Representing India in the world's oldest and most challenging Ultra-Race, Bapai clinched a BRONZE medal.
• Border Hell Ultra 100 miles [161Km] - Rajasthan (Dec 2022): Setting a new Event Record, Bapai emerged victorious as the sole Bengali and Kargil War Veteran (ex-IAF) to conquer a 100-mile desert race.
• Khardungla Challenge 72Km - Ladakh (Sep 2022): Conquering the world's highest Ultra-Race in Ladakh showcased Bapai's endurance and determination.
• Ladakh Marathon 42Km - Ladakh (Sep 2022): Notably setting a National Record, Bapai accomplished the feat of completing both the Khardungla Challenge and Ladakh Marathon back to back, a first for a Kargil War Veteran (ex-IAF) in India.
• Tata Mumbai Marathon - Mumbai (Jan 2020): Successfully finishing the Full Marathon race in Mumbai added another feather to Bapai's cap.
• Kolkata Trail Ultra 60Km - Kolkata (Dec 2019): Bapai showcased his prowess by completing the challenging Kolkata Trail Ultra, demonstrating his versatility in various terrains.
• Malnad Trail Ultra 80Km - Western Ghats (Nov 2019): Navigating the treacherous trails of the Western Ghats, Bapai completed the Malnad Trail Ultra with finesse in November 2019.
