Happy to introduce Mr. Satish Gujaran who is the founder of RunWithSatish, and also associated as director with Network Twentyone.
Satish met Dereck during one of his trips to South Africa, which initiated his running journey. Being a chain smoker, Dereck suggested Satish to start running as the same would help him quit the habit of smoking.
After his return to India, until the year 2009 , running almost for 4 years, still he could not stop smoking.
That was when he enrolled himself with the Inner Engineering course at Isha Foundation, and with that he kicked that butt off and rewrote his running journey.
Though his running stint started with a DNF in his first ever Half Marathon (21Kms) in South Africa . In his 18 years of running, he has completed 28 Ultra Marathon, 42 Full Marathon, 35 Half Marathon. He also raised funds for Isha Vidhya (underprivileged kid’s education) by running 5 multi days and 5 multi cities.
He is the only Indian to have completed 11 consecutive Comrades at South Africa, also called the ULTIMATE HUMAN RACE. He has earned himself Green Number which is the permanent bib number for India.
Satish to help runners to fulfil the dream of finishing comrades marathon, he had been pacing the 4hrs 30m full marathon comrade qualifier bus since 2020 in all most major metro cities of India.
Satish who would help and guide them not only to qualify for the race but also handhold with proper training and pace strategy for the big “C”. Year 2022 comrades, he paced 11h 30m bus for his students and also he provided transport , food and accommodation, end to end solution for many comrade participants.
According to him, age is just a number, anybody can start running at any age. One should not attempt too many marathons. Running is a gradual process. One should listen to their body, be consistent and pursue patience. Most importantly one should enjoy running. Running is a metaphor for life. There is so much to learn through running, which is useful for our daily life.
