Distance running epitomizes the power of one’s dreams and the awareness of one’s abilities to realize those dreams. Unlike other competitive sports, it is an intensely personal experience. The Tata Mumbai Marathon is One of the World’s Leading Marathons. Over the years, the fundraising platform has assumed a stature of the eminence of being the single largest sporting platform for philanthropy in India. 641 NGOs have successfully raised INR 317 crore over the past 17 editions.


PHILANTHROPY PARTNER

United Way Mumbai (UWM) is a non-profit organization with a mission to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities to advance the common good. As a leader in the Indian development sector, UWM works closely with a network of 600+ non-profits and a large number of corporates for their CSR programs, workplace giving campaigns and other events. This includes designing CSR policy and strategies, due diligence of non-profit partners, program implementation, employee volunteering, impact assessments and financial and programmatic reporting.

Over 20 years, UWM has partnered with 300+ companies and 100,000+ individual donors, investing INR 843 Crore in nearly 1200 community development projects, impacting over 129 lakh lives. UWM’s expertise lies in identifying, designing & implementing high-impact projects in the areas of Education, Health, Income, Environment and Public Safety, in urban and rural communities, through a collective community impact model. UWM is part of an international network spread across 41 countries, with chapters in 7 states of India.

In our 12 years of association as the philanthropy partner of the Tata Mumbai Marathon, we have helped raise the charity figures from INR 7.75 Crores in year 2009 to INR 45.95 Crores in year 2020.

At the Tata Mumbai Marathon, the role of United Way Mumbai as a philanthropy partner is to:

  • Help non-profits raise funds from the event in an impartial, fair, and cause-neutral manner; continuous support; and
  • Build capacities of non-profits through processes, training, sharing practices, and
  • Increase the visibility of their causes and facilitate the building of relationships between donors and participating non-profits.
